.. 2 days to reckoning.. yikes!
Its been such a hectic week right up till today. So… I’m rewarding myself with a good 2 hr “stone” break. Yes it sounds so pathetic, I only have 2 hours to stone before I start this crazy cycle again. Time is precious, and I miss having time to just do nothing.
I started out the week with dengue scare, I’m just glad the episode is over. My place is (so far) the only blocks of flats that hasn’t seen much dengue, the blocks surrounding mine are labelled hotspots! Naturally, with the onset of fever, aching muscles and joints, headaches, painful eyes, I thought I might be coming down with dengue fever… Doc said it was viral fever (but that we could not rule out dengue). So it was a relief, but I could not have imagined how the fever could wear me down so much! Totally weakened to the point that I panted as I walked around, and my knees were so numbed and weak, they buckled a few times while standing.I’m glad the strength is back…
The crunch is coming. Exams are just round the corner, the stress is setting in, the assignments are coming one after another. You know its stress when you dream equations, formulas and computing algorithms…. and guess what? I actually woke up with a solution to a computing problem!! Of course, it was also quite an unrestful sleep… (eyebags)
I miss hanging out… seemed so long since I’ve gone out on weekends with friends. Since school started, I’ve been hanging out with Tim the Tutorial, Alfred the Algorithm and Lester the lecture notes every saturday. Where’s the life? I’m so looking forward to December.
Now, I’ve got one assignment left… the toughest one. I’m praying I get through this alive…. Help Lord! (how I wish this cry was not for school work but for His work.. sigh ..
)
Lectures, Tutorials and Classmates
Never thought tutorials would come so fast. Barely on the second week of classes, we had tutorials to submit!!
Well, that’s what I signed up for! Yes, though its tiring and sometimes hard to listen, especially in a semi shutdown mode after work, but I’m really happy to learn all the many interesting new stuff. And I can see its relevance to my work! Its fantastic and quite amazing really!
I really am thankful for God’s provision. I got to know a classmate who lives in Thomson. And he drives! WHoo hoo! So after classes, I get a lift from him and drop somewhere near braddell. That saves me a full 45 mins of travel!! Thank God! I’ve also come to know many nice folks in school. So really do hope that I can invite them to church someday. Think the CD will come in useful. Two classmates I know drive. Ain’t it great for them to listen to the CDs? I hope they do listen to them!
Well, lots of praise to our Lord on High!
Its Matriculation day!
Went down on Sat afternoon to NUS to collect my stuff from the department. Officially I’m a student AGAIN!!
Yippee!! Got my matric card too!!! Here’s a look at it, heck, I’ve scanned in my old matric card for comparison (its an antique!!)

(HAHA!! Long hair Centre-parting!!)
School starts in August, and I’ll be doing my Post Grad in Financial Engineering, if you’re wondering what in the world this course is… Its a combination of Mathematics, Finance, Statistics and Computing! What a hodgepodge of a course is this!?!? Well, demand for such a skill set is on the increase and this is one area that I’m really keen to grow and learn, hopefully I would enjoy the course and that my training in engineering as an undergrad would help in the more mathematical modules!.
Met a few folks who will be my future course mates and we hit off pretty well, do hope to get to know more people there, I’m pretty sure there will be lots of ministry opportunities back here in school. Really reminds me of undergrad days of VCF!
Somehow, being back in school just feels so different. I’m excited to WANT to learn… that’s pretty odd considering that I’ve never been really serious about my modules as an undergrad. Used to skip lectures ever so often, and the only learning comes in the mugging 2 weeks prior to exams, I really wonder how I managed to pass my modules!! But looking back, I do believe that interest plays a part in helping you want to learn. (guess I just went with the mass-govt-indoctrinated-herd to go into engineering. It seems that the default choice of the JC Science Faculty was Engineering. And today… its Life Science.. To you younger folks, go find out what you’re passionate about, ok? Don’t just go by default.)
Well, I really hope I can cope with all these extras. Hope and pray that I don’t compromise on my time with God, or ministry.
